Well Flow Testing

A Well Water Flow Test will measure the water flow over a period of time to test the rate of recovery of the water system.

The average person uses between 80 to 100 gallons of water a day between showers, dish washing, drinking, cooking, laundry, and bathroom usage. Lawn watering, gardening, pools, tubs and other uses may add to the average use. The daily water use for the property depends on the number of people and additional uses of water.

Three gallons per minute is a good baseline flow that equates to 180 gallons an hour. So, it is important to take into consideration what the requirements of the household will be. For example, a family of four may use 400 gallons of water a day.

Test results illustrate the well flow rate at the time of the test. Water flow rate may be effected by rainfall level, excavation, or diversion of ground water. It is important to check with your local government to review local plans that may effect the community water table.
